As 12th Governing Council holds inaugural meeting.

The selection of the 9th substantive Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University is the issue on the front burner of the newly inaugurated 12th Governing Council of the Lagos State University, as the highest authority of the institution held its inaugural meeting on Tuesday,  13th July 2021.

Even as the Council set out to begin the selection process for the coveted seat, the Chairman of the Council, Sir David Sunmoni, FCA, KJW, has charged members to be fair and firm in the discharge of their mandate. 

Speaking at the Council Chambers,  venue of the meeting,  the former Accountant-General of Lagos State, expressed his delight at chairing the inaugural meeting of the new council and called on members to work as a team, with fairness and firmness.

He stated that the 12th Governing Council comprised of members from diverse academic background,  experience and knowledge, of all which must be leveraged on to achieve the objectives of the founding fathers of the University. 

He further emphasized the need to hit the ground running by setting the pace for activities that would culminate in the appointment of the 9th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University,  noting that time was of essence regarding the issue.

Members of the Council in attendance at the inaugural meeting included: Prof. Oyedamola Oke,  Acting VC, Prof. Elias Wahab, DVC, Academic, Mr. Anuoluwapo Eso, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, Mr. Tolani Sule, Mrs. Foluke Abdulrazaq, Mrs Moronke Williams, Barr. Adebayo Akinsanya,  Mrs. Adenike Yomi-Faseun, Mrs. Mojisola Tolagbe Taiwo, Dr. Hakeem Adetugbobo, Prof. Abiodun Adewuya, Prof. Danoye Oguntola-Laguda, Prof. Mobolaji Oludara,  Prof. Yemi Akinkuotu, Mr. Yakubu Jubril,  Mr. Albert Yemaren Agosu,  Mr. Oluwakemi Kalesanwo, Mr. Faruk Danmole and the Acting Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Fanu. 

Other members, Mr. Adekunle Soname, Prof. Shaffdeen Amuwo and Mr. Karl Olutokun Toriola were absent with apology, while the Bursar,  Mr. Said Olayinka; University Librarian,  Dr. Layi Adebayo; Director,  Works and Physical Planning, Engr.  Sikiru Kazeem; Acting Director, Directorate of Internal Audit,  Mrs. Margaret Ogunkoya and Deputy Registrar, Legal Unit, Mrs. Olajumoke Boyejo were in attendance. 

Recall that the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the University,  Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu,  on Thursday, 8th July, 2021, inaugurated the 12 Governing Council of the University.
