Romance(Dicdative)' THE LOST RIVER '

Flourishing... You could say,as it has always been
never drying,it is a river incomparable,
always fruitful since it always harbours fishes
and all goodies you could find in a river.

Therefore, the people of Kamur village took it for granted,
not considering the benevolence they enjoy from the river.
On and on their wasteful attitude continued,
impunity! They thought they will always enjoy.

Bassago,the Priest came
to relay the message from the gods,
yet the people took no heed...
Bassago warned of the impending danger
like a bird-chirp so the people took his warnings.

The clouds began to gather, darkness filled the air,
people running helter-skelter as the wind ensued,
plates clanging, doors banging, people ranting,
they thought their judgement day has come.

Alas! Twas just the weather...
Laughing they said...'Even the gods can't harm us'
Bassago told them to take that as a warning sign,
scorning him was all they did.

Then after a few months,it happened
like a Cyclone it came, like Tornado it swept across,
taking all that came along its way,
no one dared to come out that fateful night.

The next morning was chaotic but peaceful at first,
not until Rita went to the river to fetch water,
she actually thought she'd lost
but later found out she hasn't.

Where did the river go?
That was the question on everyone's lips.

Jay Heart.

The poet personae teaches his readers the essence of maintaining natural resources, giving an epic on how a lady witnesses a river vanishing before her only bacause the people ridicles its value through unrepentant wastage.
