Lorette ' WHAT IF '
What if Nigeria accepted her sin,
whites will take off her hat
when she marries stars of her thing.
Then every man will have his hat.
What if implementations, checks and balances
all took their guns beside seats of bills.
On the desks of promises will be traces,
tide of terms turning sweet changes, not just bills.
What if allowances will be far as Canada,
miles away until they fire our thirsty woods.
They will run to offices quick as flash,
maybe beyond flash
and commoners wouldn't be naked before seats light woods.
They will get clear on the weight of Nigeria
not just Nigeria, more of Africa.
Ajakaye Rashidat Olamidayo.
The poet personae imagines the greatness of a country whose name is unmentioned, envisaging how enjoyable the State will be if things are turned the other way around, she focuses on the leaders mode of leadership changing for the good of the populace if the policies will not be in favour of their pockets.
